Women of the Congo Fundraising Event

Recently, Pouchmart was part of a very meaningful fundraising event that helps women survivors of gender violenece in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The beautiful jewelry is made by Stanley Creations, Inc. Please read on as our client Jane was kind enough to share some pictures and more information from the event.

JANE:

Thanks again for donating the pouches!  The event was a great success and the pouches added a beautiful touch!  Attached are some pictures of the pouches with our jewelry.

The money we raised at the event (www.womenofthecongo.com) was donated to V-Day’s City of Joy.  This is a revolutionary new community for women survivors of gender violence in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). City of Joy will provide up to 180 Congolese women a year with an opportunity to benefit from group therapy; self-defense training; comprehensive sexuality education (covering HIV/AIDS, family planning); economic empowerment; storytelling; dance; theater; ecology and horticulture. Created from their vision, Congolese women will run, operate and direct City of Joy themselves.

Best regards,

Jane

It’s the Journey – Sinamay Gift Bag

Hi everyone – Julia here with a new project.  This is the first time I’ve worked with a PouchMart’s Sinamay Bag and I love it!    They are available  in several great colors.   The open weave is a rather stiff – so it keeps it’s shape but is still pliable enough to pull closed at the top.  I cut a rectangle of card stock and placed it in the bottom of the bag to give it a firm base.

I decorated the bag quite simple with a paper bow made with a template from Creations by AR.  For the sentiment - I die cut an arrow, stamped it and tied it to the twine bag closure.

This makes a great masculine gift bag with the green color and plaid bow – and with this sentiment it would be good for a graduation or maybe a new job gift!

It’s a Baby Shower! Gingham Style!

Hi there – Julia again – bringing you a sweet little favor bag idea for a Baby Shower!

baby shower favors

I used a sweet little blue gingham organza bag for this project -  decorating it with a little sock monkey digital image from Bugaboo Stamps that I colored with Copic Markers.  The sentiment is a stamp from Baby Button Bits set by Papertrey Ink and I die cut it with pennant die from Spellbinders.

Wouldn’t this look sweet on the tables at a shower – filled with a little bag of mints or candy coated almonds?!  So cute and really easy to create in multiples!

This cute bag is a 3″ x 4″ size and is available in more sizes and several colors.

Thanks for stopping by the Pouchmart blog today!  I hope this post has inspire you to create!

May You Live Happily Ever After – Metallic Lame Bag

Hi everyone –  Julia here  -  this time with a beautiful Silver Lame Bag all dressed up for the bride!  This bag is SO shiny and SO soft!

The pretty dress and sentiment are stamps from Waltzingmouse.  I made the sash for the dress by tying a bow in wrinkled seam tape.  I created the felt flower combining  a rolled flower die from My Favorite Things and a flower die from Papertrey Ink.

Wouldn’t this be a lovely little bag for a shower or wedding gift?   –  or you could even gift it to the ‘bride -to-be’ empty – and she could put any special little wedding keepsakes in it that she desires!

Organza Cone Holiday Treat Bag

Are you ready for the holidays??  Well – here’s a cute idea for a little treat bag – a great little gift idea for when you drop by a neighbors, visit someone who is in a nursing home, or maybe at home not feeling well – just a little gift to show you are thinking about them.

I took  a white organza cone bag from PouchMart and filled it with Mint Truffle Hershey Kisses (Yum!!).  I made a tag to attach to the bag using an ornament stamp from Waltzingmouse.  I tied the tag to around the top of the bag with Glitter Eyelash yarn by Martha Stewart.

This worked up in minutes and looks SO pretty don’t you think?

Thanks for stopping by the Pouch Mart blog today – I hope I’ve inspired you with my simple holiday treat packaging!

A Thank You for a Friend – Canvas Bags

Hi!  It’s Julia, back to share another project made with a bag from PouchMart!

I love making gift bags as well as cards so I often incorporate my stamping onto these items.  Here I made a set of a gift bag and card – using the same stamp sets on both articles.

canvas gift bag

The stamps are from Vintage Garden Seed Packet and Vintage Garden Produce from Waltzingmouse.  I tied a bow with two shades of orange wrinkled seam tape, knotted a piece of button twine around the bow and sewed it to the top of the PouchMart canvas muslin bag with one stitch so it would stay on through openings and closings of the bag!

Here it is pulled open so you can see the stampings better.

These PouchMart canvas bags are my favorite bag to decorate!

DIY Projects – with Organza Bags with Tassels

PouchMart recently joined with members of the Waltzingmouse Stamps Design Team to create several fun projects with various bags.

The creation featured below comes from Lynn’s blog, Stamperosity. Let’s see how Lynn made up these organza bags with tassels.

LYNN:

Hi crafty friends. I have a special treat for you.  Some of the Waltzingmouse Stamps Design team are having a blog waltz today.

The wonderfully generous folks at PouchMart, a supplier of a wide variety of presentation pouches, has supplied each participating team member with pouches to work with.  Coupled with withWaltzingmouse Stamps images, we have created fun and inventive projects to show you.

Pouch-Full-BF

My project began with my Cameo and some American Crafts cardstock. I die cut my birthday box and then introduced it to the Pic Nic Patterns set from Waltzingmouse Stamps. They were instant friends. I stamped along the bottom part of the “birthday box” and then colored the Happy Birthday words and butterfly along the top with Copic markers. It’s impossible to tell, but I went over the butterfly with my Spica Glitter pens, giving it such a beautiful shimmer. (with technology today, you would think someone could devise a way to get good photos of “shimmer”).

My beautiful shimmery Organza pouch fit wonderfully inside the box to hold the candy inside, making this project birthday presentable for a co-worker of mine who LOVES Werther’s candies (a full bag is held in this pouch…my co-worker will be so happy!)

Pouch-Full-BD-front

To finish off my project, I die cut a tag and used the same WMS set to embellish it. I love the way it turned out and she can even keep the pouch for later use as these Organdy bags hold their shape well, and are great little jewelry caddies for separating items that could get tangled in transit (did I mention my co-worker travels often?).

Thanks for popping in today.  Until next time – stay crafty.

Eco Friendly Mini Tote Bags & Burlap Bags – DIY Projects

PouchMart recently joined with members of the Waltzingmouse Stamps Design Team to create several fun projects with various bags.

The creation featured below comes from Anya’s blog, Life is what You Make It. Let’s see how Anya made up these eco-friendly tote bags and burlap bags.

ANYA:

Hello there!

I have two projects to share with you today. The first is using the Eco-Friendly Mini Tote Bag. These are great, light weight bags – they are the same material as many of the reusable shopping bags available now in most grocery stores.

I started by die cutting a mask from cardstock using a Labels 18 die. Then I stamped the harlequin pattern from Heirloom Patterns in black ink over the mask. Before removing it, I used a marker to trace around the opening to give some definition to the shape. I added a rolled paper rose and a little tag to the edge of the label.

I tucked a little candle inside my bag, embellished with a band stamped with the harlequin pattern and wrapped in tissue stamped with one of the floral images from French Country.

My second project was made using a Natural Burlap Bag. I love how this turned out – it is my favorite.

I created a label for the front of the bag using the My Island set. I pierced a row of holes up either side and used some linen twine to stitch it to the bag front. Isn’t it fun?

I filled the burlap bag with a cello bag full of dried tropical fruit. Bill loves this stuff.  I think this would be a super fun little party favor or gift for someone.

So that is what I have to share today!
Be sure to stop by the Pouch Mart store and browse their amazing selection of packaging, too!

Have a great day!

A Bag of Soap – for My Friend!

Hi friends!  Julia here with an easy way to decorate a pretty little bag for gift giving!  So you are actually giving two gifts -  the bag and what’s inside!

pouchmart

I stamped a flower in red ink on white card stock and the leaves in green ink on white card stock and cut them out.  I stamped the sentiment and cut it with a banner die.  I layered the leaves and sentiment to the back of the flower with foam tape.  I adhered all three to the front of this lovely red polka dot organza bag from Pouch Mart using thick glue dots.

pouchmart.com

I used to have this ‘thing’ about soaps – I bought them or picked them up everywhere I went – the one in the green wrapper is a Bayberry Soap I bought at Colonial Williamsburg and inside the bag is a Comfrey Clarifying Bar from a stay at an Omni Hotel when we attended a wedding in Philadelphia  – it’s packaged in crimped soft cardboard with a green belly band around it – so pretty and wonderful smelling!!  – anyway -  packaged soap is a wonderful gift idea to put in a little bag ‘For My Friend’ – and with my collection of soap – I can make quite a few of these!!! This bag is 4″ x 6″

I hope I’ve given you a little inspiration today!

DIY – Natural Sinamay Gift Bags

PouchMart recently joined with members of the Waltzingmouse Stamps Design Team to create several fun projects with various bags.

The creation featured below comes from Tosha’s blog, Stamp Talk with Tosh. Let’s see how Tosha made up these sinamay tote bags.

TOSHA:

I chose to alter this darling little 7″ x 6″ Orange Sinamay Bag. It reminded me of a mini-beach tote and I thought it would be fun to include some pampering products inside for a friend of mine who works really hard and rarely takes time for herself.

All I did was stamp the “Relax” sentiment from the Waltzingmouse set My Island, with Black Onyx Versamark, onto a rectangular piece of canvas. (I swear Claire designed this sentiment just for this little gift I wanted to give. It’s PERFECT). I then spritzed the canvas with Alpine Ice Rose and Bells of Ireland Green Starburst mists from Lindy’s Stamp Gang. Once the canvas was dry, I hand-stitched around the edges using a bright pink embroidery thread and frayed the edges.

Since the webbing of the bag is spread out, it would be hard to sew the canvas directly to the bag, so I hot glued the panel to the bag using a slightly smaller rectangular canvas piece inside, behind the main panel. It gives it a clean look on the inside also. It was so easy to do, and the bags from Pouchmart are so reasonably priced.
